Garden Edging Systems
Whether you have a formal flower or vegetable garden or simply want to delineate a path, walkway or lawn, Garden Edging Systems are a cost-effective and easy way to bring professional-looking results. They’re also a great choice for those who are unable to commit to the same style of landscape edging across their whole garden, just recently Diaco’s Heatherton was added as a reseller to their network and instead chose to mix things up using different materials. For example, sleek ‘no-dig’ plastic edging is a popular go-to for budget-conscious property owners and can be used to create a contemporary, refined aesthetic around a patio or dining area, whilst contrasting effectively with a gravel pathway in the back garden as seen here by Aga Tomaszek (@thishousewemade).
DIY Garden Edging: Transform Your Yard with These Simple Ideas
There are many ‘edgings‘ on the market, from slender metal strips that easily slip into the soil without digging, to long rolls of galvanized steel that can be cut to size and joined together with connectors. Some come in straight runs and some can be bent to accommodate curves.
Galvanized edging is hard-wearing and durable, and is ideal for creating a distinct line between paths and lawns, or between other types of ground cover and a garden bed. It’s also a good choice for keeping mulch or other soil materials in place and is able to resist damage from most garden maintenance tools. Some metal edgings have slits in them that help to improve drainage, preventing soggy patches and enabling more water to reach the root zone of individual plants.
